Since 1977, The Alexandria Museum of Art has served and educated the people of Central Louisiana. The museum seeks to promote all forms of art including film, literature, music, and visual arts. It is located in Downtown Alexandria and is part of the Alexandria Cultural District. 

The museum dazzles guests with art from temporary traveling exhibits, modern artists, and its permanent art collection. Their collection includes almost 100 photographs by Elemore Morgan Sr. The museum holds educational programs for Rapides Parish students during the school year. Found on Masonic Drive, The Alexandria Zoological Park houses over 500 amazing animals and exhibits. The zoo houses a robust collection of exhibits: Australian Walkabout, African Experience, Land of the Jaguar, and Louisiana Habitat. 

They have several threatened or endangered species: American crocodile, Bengal tiger, and red kangaroo. The zoo has 50 Species Survival Plans including ones for the fishing cat and Louisiana pine snake. (A Species Survival Plan oversees the breeding of endangered species in captivity.) 

The Alexandria Zoological Park holds fun events such as Mardi Gras Party, Holiday Light Safari, and Zoo Boo at Halloween. 

T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum in Alexandria, Louisiana

T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum

T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum is a place where toddlers to grade-schoolers can learn through play. Located in Downtown Alexandria, the museum was created in 2000 and expanded in 2004. 

Children can try the Building Table, KLAX Kid TV Station, Shadow Room, and many more interactive exhibits! T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum hosts dynamic learning experiences for schools, daycares, and home-schooled groups most days. The children’s museum also has a Little Free Library. Children under 2 years-old are free to enter. Kids under 16 must be with an adult.
